    Hi Chuck,
Passed a boat named Tusen Takk in Newport RI the other day. Thought it was you for a minute. looked like a Krogen. Your old boat?
We picked up our K52, Privateer, in October, spent winter in Bahamas and are back in our home port on Newport, RI. May not ever make it back to Caribbean w this boat, but will keep an eye out for you.

      Greg,

Unlikely that it was our original “Tusen Takk”, because the person who bought the boat from us changed the name to ???? that I don’t remember. 🙁

Hi, Thank you for sharing.I have a couple questions about the Kroger. Would you be able to help? I’m looking at a Kroger 42 built in 1992. I was wondering if your boat or know of other Krogers having blister issues? The exterior various side panels that run top to hand rail on this boat has some blisters and where the panel meets the hand railing the wood is softened and dark. The exterior port side bow area near a line guide fitting there is blistering along the side of the bow. I was wondering if this is something common for this age Kroger or you might have heard or witness from other owners? When inside the boat there is a distinct smell. I don’t know how to describe other than a combination of maybe bilge, holding tank, head area, diesel. It’s noticeable when you first board the boat then you start to get a little use to it. I know w/ some boats the
boat smell can be a bit stronger than others. Any insight or comments with regards to questions or things to know about the a Kroger much appreciated.

Since we have been cruising deep in the Caribbean, we haven’t seen enough Krogen 42s to be able to comment on how common blisters are. I would say that strong odors don’t seem like a good sign. A good surveyor should be able to help with that, if you are interested in pursuing that particular vessel.

The Krogen 42s have been around long enough that a number of them have developed leaking fuel tanks. Many have already been replaced. Would suggest you limit your search to 42s that have already undergone the replacement.
Hope these limited (and belated) comments are helpful.

      –Chuck
